Most diet pills and supplements work by trying to increase
the rate at which our body burns fat. What makes Hoodia 24 Hour Appetite Control so different
is they really work to prevent weight gain. Take in less calories than you burn and you will lose weight. It is really
simple math, you can not gain weight if you consume less calories than you burn. Hoodia gives you a powerful weapon to fight
hunger and therefore take in less calories.
How long does Hoodia 24 Appetite Control take to work?
The consensus is that hoodia can take up to
1 to 2 weeks to kick in, however, many people notice the appetite suppressing effects within 1/2 hour of taking a dose of
hoodia.
How to take Hoodia 24 Hour Appete Control
- An hour before meals
- With a glass of water. Ensure adequate water intake, because hoodia
will also shut off your thirst mechanism.
Hoodia has been used for thousands
of years. The San Bushmen are a tribe of hunter-gatherers. They do not take pills for blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol,
depression, and other diseases, like we do.
This impressive plant contains a special substance, which
acts on the brain by sending a signal to tell the body that it is satisfied and does not need more food. It works by making
one feel full after ingesting it, and it has been shown to lower food intake by up to 50 percent.
Hoodia Gordonii, although it looks like a cactus
and is in fact part of that family, it is categorized as a succulent. The Hoodia plant has been used for centuries by the
San People of the Kalahari to stave off pain, hunger and thirst when they travelled for weeks, months and even years across
the vast desert. There are about 20 species in the Hoodia family, the Gordonii is the only one that contains the natural appetite
suppressant.
When South African scientists were testing the Hoodia Gordonii plant
they discovered the plant contained a previously unknown molecule. Results of human clinical trials in Britain suggest that
this active ingredient could reduce the appetite by up to 2,000 calories a day.
This active ingredient works by replicating the effect glucose has
on nerve cells in the brain, fooling the body into thinking it is full even when it is not. Hoodia Gordonii appears to contain
a molecule that is almost 10,000 times stronger than glucose.
Natural Hoodia Gordonii supplements were just introduced to the U.S. market in early 2004. Hoodia gordonii is entirely
natural -- it is not a drug, and has no stimulant properties. There is interest, however, from various pharmaceutical companies
who are trying to synthesize the appetite-suppressing component, P57, in order to create a patentable drug in the future.
Prescription drugs containing hoodia or its synthetic P57 derivative are years away from being on the market.
Phytopharm's Dr. Richard Dixey explained how P.57 actually works:
"There is a part of your brain, the hypothalamus. Within that mid-brain
there are nerve cells that sense glucose sugar.
"When you eat, blood sugar goes up because of the food, these cells
start firing and now you are full.
"What the Hoodia seems to contain is a molecule that is about 10,000
times as active as glucose.
"It goes to the mid-brain and actually makes those nerve cells fire
as if you were full. But you have not eaten. Nor do you want to."
The reality is that for many people especially for people with low
thyroid in particular -- in order to lose weight, you have to cut some calories, focus on eating enough good fats (but limit
the saturated fats), eat enough healthy protein, eat good carbs (high fiber vegetables and some fruits), avoid the high-glycemic
simple carbohydrates (like sugar, flour, and rice), drink sufficient water, and ensure that you are doing things -- like aerobic
and weight bearing exercise, and various supplements -- to safely raise metabolism. Read more on hoodia side effects and common questions.
