  • Don't allow money to keep you from creating a firm stomach right away. You do not need a $50 a month gym membership or hundreds of dollars worth of contraptions to help you lose weight and develop your abs! Get yourself some illustrated exercises with clear, detailed instructions and a nutrition guide from which to develop a stricter diet. The important thing is to not start making excuses to not do it!
  • Don't beat yourself up because you're not in the shape you want. You're going to need your mental energy to create a vision of what you're going to look like in the future if you stick to your training program. Your mentality towards completing this task is verrrrry important!
  • Don't blame your parents. Playing the 'genetics' card as a means to avoid exercising is the oldest trick in the ego's book. Distinguish yourself by not copping to it.

  • Do consume more fruits and vegetables, and less red meat. This may sound boring, but if you want to gain less fat, you need to eat less fat...also, a diet high in fruits and vegetables gives you massive boosts of energy that you will need when you set out to exercise.
  • Do get in the habit of engaging your abdominal muscles throughout the day. Yes, even if you sit at a desk all day long, you do yourself a big favor by not forgetting how important your core muscles are to movement, and how engaging them is the way that you're going to give them more definition.
  • Do create positive associations with your fat-burning workouts. I can't stress this enough, as it will be the difference between whether you give up and dislike yourself or persist and feel an eventual enormous boost in self esteem. Thinking of 'pain' and 'repetition' when setting out to do your exercises is not going to motivate you for the long term. Imagining your soon-to-be glorious mid-section and increased energy level is.

It is my hope that you will consider these principles instead of ‘rules’ and think of the exercise needed as a very fruitful goal rather than ‘work’. ALWAYS remember that losing fat and keeping it off requires a shift in the way you think, as it is relatively easy to crash diet and obtain temporary results by doing so, then revert back to where you were. Burning away unwanted fat is never a chore to those who do it successfully every day. It is a welcome part of their lifestyle, because it permeates every thing that they do, and their magnificently toned results go with them wherever they do. In order for you to succeed you need to realize that getting rid of love handles is not an idea or a concept, it is something to be imagined completely and then acted upon. Always continually ask yourself: How could it not be worth the effort? Take 10 minutes to make a list of the pro’s and cons, and the answer will always be obvious.
