Do Your Have Arenal Fatigue?

Are You:

* Tired for no reason?

* Having trouble getting up in the morning?

* Need coffee, colas, salty or sweet snacks to keep going?

* Feeling run down and stressed?

* Feeling better more energy after 6PM?

An estimated 80% of North Americans suffer from Adrenal Fatigue at some point in their lives.

Adrenal glands (2) sit on top of the kidneys. They manufacture and secrete hormones such as cortisol, estrogen, DHEA and testosterone that are essential to good health and vitality.

They affect the functioning of every tissue, organ and gland in your body and have important effects on the way you think and feel. Hormones that the adrenals produce are essential to life.

The adrenals enable the body to deal with all types of stress and determine energy levels of the body. The centers of the glands produce adrenaline.

The basic task of your adrenal glands is to rush all your body's resources into "fight or flight" mode by increasing production of adrenaline and other hormones.

The adrenal glands can instantly increase the heart rate and blood pressure, release energy stores for immediate use, slow your digestion, and sharpen senses. This takes priority over all other metabolic functions for short periods of time. Healthy adrenal glands can actually save lives in emergency situations.

DHEA and The Adrenal Glands

When the adrenals are chronically overworked and straining to maintain high cortisol levels, they lose the capacity to produce DHEA in sufficient amounts. Insufficient DHEA contributes to fatigue, bone loss, loss of muscle mass, depression, aching joints, decreased sex drive, and impaired immune function. DHEA production decreases with age. People over 60 years old can have only 20 percent of DHEA levels of the twenty year old population.

Glyconutrients are eight immune sugars the body uses for cell to cell communication. These sugars are not used by the body as a source of energy/fuel as are other carbohydrates. Without proper cell to cell communication, the immune system cannot determine which cells to attack or which cells to leave alone, which cells are healthy or which cells are unhealthy. When the immune system attacks healthy cells, it is called AutoImmune Disorders. When the immune system fails to attack unhealthy cells, sickness and disease sets in the body. As you read this, much research is being done on glyconutrients. Science has established that glyconutrients are not a diet option but a requirement for everyone, called by many “the missing link” to good health.

Alarming evidence shows that many common diseases are caused by a single dietary deficiency missing in our diets. Among the missing ingredients are antioxidants, phytonutrients and gloconutrients. Why? Most people already know the answer but do not know what to do about it. “The nutrients are no longer in the foods that we eat daily because of soil depletion and green harvesting.”

Take glyconutrients for an example, only two of the eight known glyconutrieints are found commonly in today’s foods. Science has shown that we need all eight of these living sugars to stay healthy.

To explain in a simple way why everyone needs glyconutrients, take for example a typewriter, what if all of the vowels were missing from the keyboard, it would be impossible to communicate a written message that makes sense. This is exactly what is happening in the body when even one of these essential glyconutrients is missing from the diet. The immune system does not get the message to destroy damaged cells or leave healthy cells alone. The immune system can defend the body if it has all of the nutrition needed and knows when and where to attack.

The eight essential immune sugars are: xylose, fucose, galactose, glucose, mannose, N-acetylglucosamine, N-acetylgalactosamine and N-acetylneuraminic acid (sialic acid)

Some other benefits in taking glyconutrients are: build resistance to disease, increase over all health and vitality, alleviate allergy symptoms, slow down the aging process, decrease inflammation, increase natural killer cells and macrophages and improve blood sugar disorders.

A final word about glyconutrients and stem cells. Stem cells are produced in bone marrow and travel through the body repairing damage tissues. Studies show that those taking glyconutrients for one week had an increase in stem cells by the trillions. Glyconutrients have the answer that stem cell researchers are still seeking. Maybe they should look at glyconutrients for their answers.

A.D.D.and Hyperactive Kids - Natural Things You Can Do!

First, recognize limitations in sitting, listening, waiting, controlling temper, and coordination. Next, make each meal high protein and complex carb's, mainly oats and rice instead of wheat and corn. Limit dairy products if you see adverse affects, from allergies to constipation. Eliminate high phosphorus foods, such as sodas, hot dogs, bacon, sausage, luncheon meats, and fats. Ask your family to help "patrol" and eliminate artificial colors, MSG, vinegar, sugar, chocolate, and caffeine. Build their bodies and minds with protein early each day, protein shakes, egg whites, lowfat dairy or even soy or peanut butter will do! Less refined, more natural grain, fruit, and veggies are essential in this day and time, AT LEAST 80% of the time, according to Dr. Jan McBarron of Duke and the Doctor fame. It is like deciding to build a bridge out of quality steel, or plastic.

Parents have the ultimate responsibility and purchasing power to enforce a healthy {and I dare say} Godly diet most of the time. I have proven it with my own children.. if mostly {90% in my house} healthy foods are available, they will like the taste of those foods eventually, because they taste more alive and not plastic. They will eat the splurges at restaurants or social functions, but return to what really builds their bodies at home.

We need to fill in nutritional gaps with dye free whole food source natural vitamins, which are not found in grocery or drug stores. Watch out for mass market supplements that do not contain natural E, A, D, trace minerals, and organic source minerals that are easier to absorb. Calcium, Magnesium, Zinc and Iron supplements can be key building blocks for good health..for blood, bones, teeth, energy, mental function and immune system, to name a few.

Keep you child's routine on set schedule, alternating quiet time and active times often. Eliminate distractions, such as phone calls, T.V...put on a peaceful music tape such as Kids Songs or an instrumental Inspirational video or station instead. Keep your word to your child and give them your undivided attention in social situations. Your child has special needs that need extra love and esteem building words and actions from you. Keep your schedule simple so that you have the emotional reserves and flexibility.

Setting Up A Home Gym - Simple as 1 2 3

You will need very little equipment to train the entire body at home. You will need a set of dumbbells containing several different size weights for weight training. You can workout without a flat bench, but it would be very handy and inexpensive to have one.

You will also need a way to do cardio. If you have stairs in you home you have a built in stair master. Stationary bikes can be inexpensive and a great way to do cardio. You don't need to buy some expensive cardio machine to get twenty minutes of cardio three times per week.

A body ball is inexpensive and has many different uses. It is great for abs, can also be used in place of a flat bench and can be worked into cardio exercises. Body balls come in three different sizes according to height. That's about all you will need to get started.

Find a place in your home that you can set aside for training, if possible. Make this a place that you can go to and be motivated to train each day. Your training space should be as much of a part of your home as any other space. It should be very special to you. Keep it clean and in order.

Place motivational pictures and quotes that inspire you where you can see them while you are training. A wall mirror is important to help you maintain proper form while weight training. Have a calendar and marker handy to track your training sessions. After every training session mark that day off with a big checkmark as a sign of success. See how many checkmarks you can get in a row as a personal challenge and before you know it you will be fit.

Dealing With Fibromylgia Naturally
Some nutrients that people with fibromyalgia are usually lacking are
magnesium and malic acid. Taking these supplements along with CoQ10 has shown to be beneficial.

Candida infection is common in people with fibromylgia, so taking a
good probotic to replace the friendly bacteria can also be helpful.
Healthy Trinity is one of the best. Jarrow has good probotics as
well.

Enzymes that reduce inflammation such as Wobenzyme N can also be
useful.

Any supplement that will help increase oxygen and energy to muscle
cells will be well worth trying. Some of the ones listed above will do
that namely, CoQ10, magnesium and malic acid.

A good free form amino acid complex which is used to build and repair
muscle tissue is also very important which will also help to gently
boost the immune system.

There are many other nutrients that have been used for fybromalgia such
as, Garlic, grape seed extract, vitamin B complex, creatine, chromium
to name a few.

Some herbs that can be taken are: Astragalus for immune, Boswellia for
stiffness, Ginkgo biloba for circulation (do not take with other blood
thinners), and Milk thistle for the liver. These are just a few.

You will need to eat a well balanced diet, trying to eat about 50
percent raw foods and jucies.

Avoid wheat and brewer's yeast. No caffeine or alcohol. No sugar of
any type (unless your want to increase fatigue and pain)

Rest is also very important - 8 hours per night. If you have trouble
sleeping, Formula 303 by D C Labs will help along with melatonin.
Calcium and magnesium at night just before bed can also help with
sleep.

This information is only suggestions and not to be used as a
treatment for fybromylgia. I hope it is useful to you.

Have Your Heard About L-Theanine For Stress Relief
Today's world can be stressful at times. But now you can take control of the stress and its effects without the drowsiness caused by some herbs

L-Theanine, a unique amino acid compound found almost exclusively in the tea plant, Camellia sinensis, works by increasing dopamine and GABA levels, increasing alpha-brain waves associated with alert relaxation and inhibiting the stimualting effects of caffeine.  Plus it also can support the immune system which can be compromised during stressful times.

What is L-Theanine?

L-Theanine is an amino acid found almost exclusively in teas made from Camellia sinensis leaves, which includes both black and green tea.  L-Theanine gives green tea its characteristic brothy flavor because green tea processing preserves much more L-Theanine  than black tea.

L-Theanine can be purchased in your local health store in pill form.

The natural supplements company, Source Naturals, has quality L-Theanine at a good price.

Keeping Your Kids Health In Winter Naturally

Best Herbs for Kids

By: Ann Fishburne, Nutritionist

Children usually respond positively to herbs, many times with less or no side effects. Many conditions for which doctors recommend little more than tylenol will clear up and return less often with nutritional support from herbs, and the following is a brief list of the BEST (in the opinion of many herbalists, nutritionists, and tired mothers!)

Stevia-sweet tasting herb to add to teas, oatmeal, lemonade, etc to avoid the immune suppressing effects of too much sugar

Astragalus-immune builder before, during, and after illness, great for the child who is tired all the time, prone to viruses

Echinacea-Allergy, pain, and itch- calming herb that can be given when tylenol and aspirin are not appropriate ; great with astragalus for ear infection, colds, sniffles, virus, strep and lyme disease(put on and take internally after tick or any bug bite)

Elderberry-awesome in good tasting liquid, chewable or tea for asthma, sore throat, viruses, cold sores, frequent mouth ulcers, and fever

Bee propolis- No, it’s not an herb, but gives some of the most powerful antibiotic effect for bees and humans. (how many sick bees have you seen?) Well tolerated for children and pregnant women, it is GREAT for toothache and abcesses…be prepared it sticks to teeth like super glue, but oh, the relief for sore throat strep, sinus, and brochitis!

Oregano-Not to be confused with regular oregano in the kitchen, Wild oregano in juice or oil is anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antifungal, and detoxifying in nature. Should be used for any child given immunizations to help adjust immune system. It has a strong smell and taste, but easier tolerated right after brushing teeth.

Olive leaf- Liquid is soothing and effective for thrush (candida), spider bites, herpes, warts, parasites, viruses, and many bacteria, and in wounds with colloidal silver hydrosol..

Oregon Grape-A child’s version of golden seal (berberine containing herb) great for colds, flu, sore throat, ecxema, food poisoning, diarrhea OR constipation…really!

All of these herbs can be found in liquid, tea, or homeopathic versions that are appropriate for children and are usually used short term until symptoms are gone, although some can be used longer under the supervision of a doctor or herbalist-nutritionist. Most of these are detoxifying herbs, which your child occasionally needs, but should be used one or two at a time unless in a commercially made formula. Test toleration by rubbing a drop of liquid inside the wrist if child is particularly sensitive. They can be added to water, applesauce, oatmeal or juice, and given every two to three hours a few drops or dropperfuls (older children) at a time, or two to six times a day.

Man is legally not allowed to claim herbs as more than nutrition support, but God (in the books of Genesis and Revelations) calls them healers. Whatever they are called, these are a few of the BEST according to many herbalists, nutritionists, and M.D.’s with rarely any side effects..doesn’t your child deserve the best?

The importance of Magnesium
After oxygen, water and basic food, magnesium may be the most important element your body needs.  Magnesum activates over 350 different body processes, including digestion, energy production, muscle function, bone formation, creation  of new cells, activation of B vitamins, relaxation of muscles, as well as assisting the functions of the heart, kidneys, adrenals, brain and nervous system.  Lack of sufficient available magnesium in the body can interfere with any or all of these processes.

Magnesium depletion can be caused by such things as mental stress, caffeine, sugar, alcolol, tobacco, drugs of all types, high perspiration, low thyroid function, diabetes, chronic pain, diuretics, and a high carbohydrate, high sodium or high calcium diet.

Ninety to ninety-five percent of the population are below healthy magnesium levels, including many who already use magnesium.  Why?
The amount of magnesium required by the body is greater than people think.

Some symptoms of low magnesium are:

  • Low energy
  • Fatigue
  • PMS and hormonal imbalances
  • Body tension
  • Headaches
  • Backaches
  • Calcification organs
  • Weakening bones
  • Heart related difficulties
  • Anxiousness
  • Nervousness
  • Irritability
  • Can't Sleep

Magnesium in citrate form is easily absorbed in the body.

A product that uses magnesium citrate in powder form is: Natural CALM by Peter Gillham's Natural Vitality

Natural CALM  is  available at ProHealth Nutrition, Inc.  McDonough, Ga.  770-914-7955

Have You Heard About 7 Keto DHEA?

7-Keto DHEA is considered by nutritional scientists to be among the most effective compounds for anti-aging and health.  DHEA produced by the body is a natural hormone that decreases as we age.  The lack of DHEA in the body has been linked to lack of energy, loss of memory and decreased immunity.  Those that take DHEA say that they have a sense of well bring.

Researchers have identified 7-KETO DHEA as an active ingredient of DHEA.  When tested, it significantly out performed DHEA, giving more cellular energy for mental function.

7-Keto DHEA does not effect sex hormones as does DHEA.  It cannot be metabolized into active estrogenic or androgenic sex hormones.  For this reason 7-Keto DHEA is a very popular weight loss supplement.

7-Keto DHEA  also has an anti-cortisol action.  Cortisol is produced by the adrenal glands in response to stress.  To much cortisol can cause cell damage, which contributes to the aging process.

A good brand of 7-Keto DHEA is Source Naturals.

Have your heard about CHA water?

CHARGED
CHA Water has a higher concentration of hydroxyl ions than normal water giving it a more negative charge. Each hydroxyl ion has an extra electron to neutralize free radicals helping prevent cell damage. This gives the water an amazing antioxidant property.

HEXAGONAL
CHA Water has a higher concentration of 6 molecule clusters (hexagonal) than ordinary water. Ordinary water is only 3-4% hexagonal vs. CHA water's 90%. Our bodies ability to accept water (hydrate) depends in part on the water. Water molecules are attracted to each other forming clusters of random sizes. Clusters larger than 6 are not accepted by our bodies. Cells have channels in which nutrients including water are accepted. Water clusters must be hexagonal or smaller to fit into the channels. The high hexagonal clustering of CHA Water makes it more available to the cell channels, in essence hydrating you better.

ALKALINE
CHA Water is abundantly alkaline with a pH range of 8 to 9.5. Your blood stays at a pH of 7.3 to 7.45. Many of us consume substances of a low acidic pH. Consumption of high alkaline substances help neutralize acidic buildup. The neutralizing effect of CHA Water enhances our bodies ability to remove stored waste products.

This is our personal choice for all of our drinking water at ProHeath Nutrition.  It hydrates better than any water that we have used.

Give it a try.    CHA water comes in:

  • 1/2 liter
  • 1 liter
  • 1 gallon
  • 3 gallons
  • 5 gallons

Why Fiber?

Once fiber enters the digestive tract, it interacts with the other foods and substances you consume.  Toxins you ingest that might otherwise be absorbed are ushered out of the body.   Cholesterol that could potentially block arteries is eliminated through various mehanisms.

It is important to eat plenty of fruits and vegetables and whole grains.  You want a fiber supplement that contains both soluble and insoluble fiber. The recommended amount of fiber daily is 25-35 grams.  To get this amount of fiber through the diet you would need to eat about 15 servings of fruits and vegetables daily.  This is why taking fiber supplements is so popular these days.

Fiber supplements and colon cleanses are the top sellers along with weight loss product in health stores.  On that note, fiber is one of the most important things for any weight loss program when taken with ample pure water.  A company that ranks high for fiber and cleansing products would be Renew Life.

Some reasons to increase your fiber intake are:

  • Help maintain cardiovascular health.
  • Promote bowel regularty.
  • Help maintain healthy cholesterol levels.
  • Help maintain normal blood sugar levels.
  • Aid in elimination of intestinal and liver toxins.
  • Provide a good source for beneficial gut bacteria.
  • Help maintain health weight.

When you have a choice, it is best to use an organic fiber.  However, any good fiber is better than not taking any at all.

Certain dietary Supplements Help Seniors Live Longer,  More Independent Lives

A study released by the Lewin Group stated that seniors taking Omega 3 fatty acids and lutein with zeaxanthin could save the heathcare industry over 5 billion dollars  over a five year period, resulting from reduced hospitalizations, physicians' visits, and avoided transitions to dependency.

The study showed that seniors taking omega 3 fatty acids and lutein with zeaxanthin avoided common conditions such as coronary heart disease and age-related macular degeneration, helping them live independently longer and reducing the level of disability associated with these conditions.

Visual impairment is one of the top reasons for loss of independence among seniors.  Eighteen percent of hip fractures in seniors is caused by visual impairment.  Seniors taking lutein with zeaxanthin in the amounts of 6 to 10 milligrams per day may help lower these percentages of injuries.

Omega 3 fatty acids have shown the ability to lower the risk of heart attacks in seniors, thus saving the healthcare industry mega dollars with less hospitalizations and physician fees.

Nordic Naturals has one of the best omega 3 fatty acids avaiable.  Source Naturals has a lutein with zeaxanthin in bonus bottles which is the best buy for the buck.

Good news for people with blood sugar and cholesterol problems---  Recent studies show that the common spice Cinnamon in amounts as small as 1 gram per day has the abilbiy to lower blood sugar as much as 18 to 29 percent and triglycerides (fatty acids in the blood) by 23 to 30 percent and LDL (bad cholesterol) by 7 to 27 percent and total cholesterol by 12 to 26 percent.  A paper released  by researchers from the Beltsville Human Nutrition Research Center in Maryland, which is a part of the U S Department of agriculture reported on a study done in Pakistan with Type 2 dibetics.

Cinnamon seems to make insulin more efficient by making cells more sensitive to the insulin that is available.  Diabetics have a problem with insulin taking sugar into cells so this is good news.

Many of the natural health supplement companies are now adding cinnamon in the amount of 1 gram per serving size to their blood sugar formulas, one of which is Vitalogic in their product called, Blood Sugar Formula.
